Tairua has been our home since 2020 after John retired from NZ Police.  

 We have had a connection since buying a bach 23 years ago. Since settling here with retirement, we have discovered the fabulous community that makes Tairua, and we value the friends we have made.

  We are both members of the local golf club, albeit average players. And when the wind and currents align, we love a day out on our fizz boat and lying on the beach at Boat Harbour or Slipper Island.

We have three wonderful daughters and 10 grandchildren, aged 18 years down to 6. Two of our families live in Hamilton and Tahuna, and our eldest daughter, Jacqui is in Tairua with her husband and three sons.

When Donna said that she was starting Salty Steppers, Kim was on board first and loved it from the get go. John however was reluctant to show his style, but after considerable encouragement (nagging) he ventured to the hall and surprised himself by enjoying the music, the company and the vibe. And of course, being 50% of the male dancers, he shone with Christopher!!
